Session on Reproductive health of adolescence and awareness of menstrual hygiene for young rural girls. organized at JMS office Pothnal in support of resource person Annamma, an experienced nurse in Primary Health Center, Pothnal. There were 15 girls engaged in the session. Annamma, a nurse at the Pothnal Primary Health Centre, addressed the young girls. She provided detailed information on reproductive health, hygiene, balanced diet maintenance, and psychological changes during the menstrual cycle and medical consultations and so on. There was an interactive session with the girls finding answers to their own menstrual issues, the discussion continued by displaying a documentary.
#JMS Maternal Health Campaign_2019
JMS in collaboration with Dalit Human Rights Forum Karnataka (DHRF-K) organised a district level Maternal Health rally at Sindhanur Taluk Hospital Sindhanur on 12th July 2019, demanding access to better reproductive and maternal health care services and pressing for stopping undue referrals to private health care facilities which incur heavy financial burden on women.
200 members of JMS from 10 Villages (Paparaocamp, Dumti, Gonwara,Ulgunchi,Aynoor, Sultanapura, Balaganur, Buddinni, Ramathnala, Pothnal) of Sindhanur , Maski and Manvi Taluka marched across the streets of Sindhanur. Later, they demanded that the Taluka Health Officer (THO) and other officers come to listen to their grievances and pressed them to solve their problems.
Activist singers from Raichur District took part in the rally and sang few songs on Maternal Health. This Song is about the conditions of poor when they visit government hospital and how the doctors collect the money from the people
During district level maternal health public Dialogue Women from 10 villages discussed on various issues related to the denial of access to the health services with Taluk Health officer. People placed a menorandum before the THO in the presence of two Doctors from two PHCs and other health representatives. They demanded that people’s demands be taken up for immediate action. THO passed few resolutions in the meeting.
1.Due to non availability of radiologist at government hospital , free scanning facility at taluk for pregnant mother’s once in a month at refered hospital.
2.Action on providing free Ambulance services
3.Action on Water and sanitation facility at PHC
4.Sanctioned new buildings for sub center construction and allotted trained doctors for the villages and will be available for people 24hrs.
The THO asked people to reach him directly when any medical personnel demanded money for providing health services, and urged women not to give money.
